This Week in Movies – 1/12/09

In Theaters:

  • Defiance – Daniel Craig defies Nazis. Apparently Nazi movies are the new black.
  • Hotel for Dogs – Some kids find a vacant house and do what comes naturally to kids … they make a hotel … for dogs … shenanigans.
  • My Bloody Valentine 3-D – Another classic horror remake, only this time they give you 3-D glasses. Might be worth checking out just for that reason. Cheesy horror can only get cheesier in 3-D.
  • Paul Blart: Mall Cop – Luke Stay: Would Rather Gouge My Eyes Out.

On Video:

  • Tyler Perry’s The Family that Preys – See what he did there? Good, now go watch this movie and explain the Tyler Perry phenomenon to me.
  • Mirrors – Jack Bauer sees terrorists in the mirror … or something like that.
  • Appaloosa – Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen, and Renee Zellweger in a western. Oh yes, it’s in the queue.
  • My Best Friend’s Girl – Dane Cook plays a douchebag. I know, it’s a stretch.
  • Swing Vote – Robin Hood holds the deciding vote in the latest election. It’s probably better than Waterworld. How’s that for an endorsement?
  • Brideshead Revisited – Another romantic period piece starring Emma Thompson that I won’t be seeing.

In site news, you can now log in to comment with your Facebook account. The idea is that there will eventually be an option to post to your news feed, but they haven’t enabled that feature yet, or I haven’t figured out how to enable it. I prefer the first explanation.
