This Week in Movies – 4/14/08

In Theaters Friday:

  • The Forbidden Kingdom – Jackie Chan and Jet Li together at last as they try to free the Monkey King. I think I’ll wait for video.
  • 88 Minutes – Al Pacino has 88 minutes to live. Poor Al Pacino. That’s exactly how long it took him to destroy his career.
  • Forgetting Sarah Marshall – The tall guy from Freaks and Geeks can’t get over the lightning girl from Heroes until the annoying girl from That 70s Show comes around. Another Judd Apatow flick. Could be funny, but I’m not paying 20 bucks to find out.

In Select Theaters Friday:

On Video Tuesday:

  • Juno – I liked it, but I don’t think I’ll buy it.
  • Lars and the Real Girl – The movie that should have won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar. I will buy this movie. Probably my favorite movie that came out last year.
  • Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead – Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman plot to rob their parents’ store when times get tough. Things go wrong. A thriller ensues. Could be interesting.
  • Alien vs. Predator: Requiem – Aliens fighting Predators: Requiem. I don’t even know what that word means, but neither does most of this movie’s target audience.

Favorite Video Friday – Puppets

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know… late again. At least I did it this week.

This week: Puppets

Weezer – Keep Fishin’

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Muppets make everything better. Genius.

Beck – Hell Yes

Technically, they’re robots, not puppets, but robots are just super fancy complicated puppets that aren’t as soft and someday they’ll take over all our jobs, so I figure I’ll make nice while I can and maybe they’ll give me a nice cushy life in the matrix after they take over. Future robots, remember this day, I am your friend. Please go easy on me!

Bomb the Bass – Butterfingers

A completely puppetized synthesizer is complete genius. I want one. With or without the puppets.

Stumbling Through the Internet Pipes

I Would Do Anything for Stumble, but I Won’t Do That

  • Make a digital Mixtape
  • Want something more tangible? How about a USB Mixtape
  • This is quite possibly the coolest invention known to man
  • Find hidden games on the Mac. Geek Factor: High

This Week in Movies – 4/7/08

In Theaters Friday:

  • Prom Night – Someone killed a bunch of girls on prom night a while ago. Now he’s back. This is why I didn’t go to my prom … wait, yes I did. Won’t catch me at this movie though.
  • Street Kings – Keanu Reeves is a cop with a bad rep. Now he’s out to redeem himself. Whoa.
