In Theaters:
- Leatherheads – George Clooney and Jim from The Office struggle to save a 1925 football team and get the country’s attention. Looks like some fast-talking football fun.
- Nim’s Island – You know, for kids!
- The Ruins – Some pretty, rich, young people visit some Ruins. Turns out the place is cursed. Horror ensues. I, for one, am chilled to the bone.
- Shine a Light – Documentary on the Rolling Stones’ concerts in New York 2006. Directed by Martin Scorcese. Could be interesting, but I doubt it will top the box office. Just a hunch.

Apparently I just became internet famous. This is a little weird. My friend, Nate was stumbling and came across the picture above on this website. After a little Googling, I found it again here. The weird thing is that the only place I have this picture posted is on Facebook.
Someone must have ripped it from there, added a little text, and submitted it to the fail blog. I wonder who it was. I figured I’d repost it here so that I get a little credit for the picture. Here’s what happened:
So there we were, driving through the middle of nowhere, Wyoming, when out of nowhere we got ambushed by a rogue wind. The back end started to slide right, I calmly said, “Here we go,” and turned the wheel to correct, it slid back left, and I suddenly remembered the 18-wheeler we passed not too long ago that was sure to be barreling toward us. I saw the edge of the road and decided that’s where I wanted to be. Off we slid, I pumped the brake once, the back end swung right, off the road, and behind us, and next thing I knew, we were perched 5 feet in the air.
We were going maybe 25 mph, more likely less when it happened, no tickets were issued, and there was absolutely no damage whatsoever to the car. We followed the tow truck towing the trailer to the nearest Uhaul, stayed the night, and swapped out the trailer the next day. It was relatively painless since I bought the insurance on the trailer, although I did have to completely repack it. The only major damage done was to a Wal-Mart particle board entertainment center, but the entire contents was covered by the insurance.
It took 2 tow trucks to un-perch us from the trailer. Luckily, I had my video camera with me.
It was crazy, after getting un-stuck, we sat on the freeway for like 5 hours waiting for them to clear all the toppled semis and wrecked cars off the freeway. Apparently they closed the freeway right after we passed the last closing point. Just too much wind on a snowy day. Hooray for failing!

This week: Dancing in the street
Kylie Minogue – Come Into My World
Classic Michel Gondry. I wish I knew how to do half of the things he does in his music videos and movies.
Björk – It’s Oh So Quiet
Another classic, this one from Spike Jonze. My favorite Björk song and one of my favorite Spike Jonze videos. I’ve never seen a song interpreted so perfectly.
RJD2 – Work It Out
The guy in the video is Bill Shannon, who was born with a degenerative hip condition that prevents him from being able to support his own weight. I’ll take any excuse I can to post an Rjd2 track. He’s one of the most amazing DJs around today.

An art dealer marries a man from backwoods North Carolina. They make a trip there to buy some art and stay with his parents. Throw in some random shots of trees and an empty country home and that’s pretty much it. Nothing happens in this movie. It’s just a slice out of the life of a rich, pretty British woman who is exposed to a backwoods American lifestyle. Like the main character, this movie tries way too hard to be artsy. Not even Amy Adams, who is the only lovable and/or interesting thing in this movie, could keep me from banging my head against the wall with boredom. Adams deserved every bit of her Oscar nomination, but she was like a daisy planted in a concrete slab.
- 5.2 arbitrary stars, but only for Amy Adams

In Theaters:
- 21 – Kevin Spacey leads a bunch of MIT geniuses to Las Vegas to beat the house. Loosely based on a true story. Looks interesting. Travers liked it. Plus, I have a friend that PA’d for it. I know people.
- Run, Fatboy, Run – On the plus side, Simon Pegg’s in the lead. On the minus side, it’s directed by Ross . On the plus side, the trailers are mildly humorous. On the minus side, they first started playing over a year ago and haven’t changed much. I’m conflicted.
- Stop-Loss – Ryan Phillipe goes to Iraq. Ryan Phillipe comes back, still just as pretty as when he left. Ryan Phillipe’s tour gets extended. Ryan Phillipe doesn’t want to go back. I don’t blame him, but this movie sounds a little too preachy. Plus, most of the soldiers I know would never stay home while their buddies went back out for their extended tour. Not saying it’s right or wrong, just saying I doubt the accuracy of this story.
- Superhero Movie – Another lame movie trying to make a buck off of every pop culture reference they can possibly cram into a movie. Look people, if we stop watching this crap, they’ll stop making it. Save yourself some money and go rent a real satire, like Shaun of the Dead , or Hot Fuzz , or Dr Strangelove or even Airplane for that matter. Otherwise, we’re going to be plagued with broadcast premieres of these things on Comedy Central for the rest of our pathetic lives.
On Video:
- The Mist – Another crappy horror remake. Please, make them stop!
- The Kite Runner – A lot of people had issues with the changes from the book. Muslim extremists had issues with a rape scene. I thought it was pretty well done … the movie, not the rape scene … not that the rape scene wasn’t well shot … I mean I just never thought much about that scene … I mean the quality of the scene, not the scene itself … not that a scene like that should even be analyzed critically … I mean … crap.
- Wristcutters: A Love Story – Patrick Fugit finds out that Purgatory for suicide victims is almost exactly like real life. I haven’t seen this, but I can almost guarantee I will own it some day. Watch it.

It’s that time again. Time to waste your valuable time with random videos that I waste my time looking for so I can waste your time by posting them here for you to waste your time viewing.
This week: Everything’s in reverse!!!1111!!11!11111111!
I already posted Pharcyde’s Drop, but here are some more gems.
Coldplay – The Scientist
This video is classic. Not much more to say. I like the part where he goes backwards.
Rob Dougan – Clubbed to Death
It’s the end of the world!!! I have no idea what’s happening in this video, but it’s backwards, and I like it.
God Lives Underwater – From Your Mouth
This video combines three of my favorite things, Asian television, eating, and playing things in reverse. Where would we be without YouTube? Hooray for the intarweb!

More Stumble goodness:
I thought paper cranes were cool, but someone made an Origami X-Wing! Don’t worry, I’m already committing it to memory.
This is the coolest lamp I have ever seen, but it might get annoying on those nights when I can’t sleep.
Where was this when I was mowing my dad’s lawn?
If I had this alarm clock, I would never oversleep again.
Megan already covered this in her blog, but it’s still cooler than being cool. I finally got her to switch directions!

In Theaters:
- Drillbit Taylor – Owen Wilson plays a bodyguard hired by 3 High-Schoolers. Gotta be good for a laugh or two. I’ll give it bonus points if we get a Whitney Houston cameo.
- Shutter – Apparently dead people can come out of photos now. I, for one, am running for the hills. Good to see the Mighty Ducks kid getting work again, but the best thing about this movie is that it’s coming out the same week as Drillbit Taylor , so it won’t make number 1. Come on, America, friends don’t let friends watch bad “horror” flicks.
- Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns – I don’t know who Tyler Perry is, but if there was some way to get in on his racket, I would do it. The man is a marketing genius. Black people love Tyler Perry movies and he pumps them out faster than processed pork tongue at a bologna factory. If you liked the others, you’ll probably like this one. I don’t get it.
On Video:
- I Am Legend – Will Smith vs. Vampires. Supposed to be good creepy fun.
- Enchanted – An animated princess is banished to the real world. Surprisingly clever for a Disney movie. Amy Adams is … uh … enchanting … I just died a little inside.
- Atonement – Keira Knightley falls in love only to be betrayed by a little brat. I’m guessing there’s redemption sometime before it ends … just a hunch. I don’t know, chicks dig it I guess.
